Sustainable Safaris Africa for long has been helping individual family who have been approaching us to help them get assistance from our clients. The majority of the people who approach us were basically girl child and women with children with disability.
In 2019 Sustainable safaris decided to the Sustainable Safaris foundation to take over the from the safari department to handle the social responsibility of the company especially the community contribution to tourism and en-route areas. The foundation is run by social workers who are employees of Game watchers safaris limited. The foundation has gone ahead to carry out research to dig deep into the problems of girls and women who approach us have got. They found out that the girl child is neglected due to cultural influences of looking at the girl child as a source of income to the family and are not given priority to go to school and the necessities for those who have their periods. The social workers also found that the children with disability are left totally in the care of their mothers as men run away from homes.
At Sustainable foundation we try to share the little proceeds we get with the community as part of our social responsibly and sometimes partner with other people to help the community. Currently the foundation is paying school fees for the under privileged girls and orphans to attain decent education. We are also helping women with dis advantaged children to start up income generating projects since they are in the tourism areas and en route to tourism attractions, to help them meet the home and medical bills for their dis advantaged children.
The foundation is also painting schools, helping schools get seats, equipping libraries, donating water tanks to schools and villages so that they can access clean water. We also help girls in schools to get pads for their periods so that they can stay in school. We plant trees around schools and we do give out tree seedlings to communities to plant thus keeping the environment green. When you travel with us you definately help the community.
