How do i get an Entry Visa?

Entry tourist visa to Uganda is issued directly on arrival at the Airport to all citizens showing a valid passport for over six month. This visa can be obtained as East African visa covering Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and South Sudan. Visa to Rwanda is obtained through on line application with the ministry of Internal affairs. Visa for Tanzania is obtained at main entry points like International air ports, diplomatic missions or consulate abroad.

What currency will i be using?

In Uganda it is advisable to use the local currency, the Uganda shillings. In Rwanda the local currency the Rwanda Franc can be used, In Tanzania the Tanzania shillings can used and Kenya the Kenyan shillings all these local currency can be obtained from Forex Bureau in each country.

How much luggage can i carry?

Safari vehicles and light Aircraft provide limited space for luggage. It is recommended to travel with light bags since bulky suitcases will overload and might not be taken on board.

How are climatic conditions like?

The climate of most of the East African countries is tropical with the average temperatures ranging from 20-30 degrees centigrade. They are two rain seasons during the year, the long one between March –May and short ones between October and December.

What are the languages used?

The tourist language in most of the East African countries is English. Although Swahili is widely spoken. Our guides speak more than one language.

What clothes do i need pack?

Light tropical clothes especially the cotton slacks, shirts, T-shirts and skirts are most suitable. Some warm clothing is needed in the higher altitude areas like Ngorongoro crater, Bwindi, Rwanda and Kisoro especially in the evening and morning hours. Sandals are confortable during transfer in the vehicle, whereas good hiking shoes are needed for walking safaris and primate trekking. Remember to carry long pants and shirts for trekking plus rain gears.

What Vaccinations do i need?

You are advised to have yellow fever vaccination up to dated but it can be obtained on arrival. Visitors are advised to take anti-malaria tablets and make use of mosquito nets and insect sprays, comprehensive travel insurance is recommended before travel.

Flying Doctors Membership

A temporary AMREF Flying Doctor membership is recommended to cover air medical evacuation to Nairobi. Participation fees are USD 5 for air ambulance coverage of Tanzania, Zanzibar and Kenya (AREA 1) and USD 9 covering Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi (AREA2), all valid for a period of up to 30 days.
