ABOUT PACKAGE

Uganda is a country condensed with the best of everything one desire to see, including highest concentration of primates on earth. If primates are what you are after, Uganda holds 2/3 of the mountain Gorillas and 30 species of Monkeys. 15 Families of Gorillas have been habituated for Tourist viewing and several forest trail networks have been established to access different monkeys, the chimpanzee tracking taking the lead. Maximum of Eight visitors track individual Gorilla family group for one hour each day and six tourists for chimpanzee families, limited numbers of trackers each day makes permits competitive more especially in peak seasons. You are advised to purchase permits well in advance. The safari takes you through the western part of the country an area that holds much of primates, connecting through Queen Elizabeth National park that houses the Tree climbing lions and highest concentration of hippos in the kazinga channel and deep into the beautiful Bwindi National Park, which is home to almost half of the world’s mountain gorilla population.

FULL ITINERARY 9 days 8 nights

Arrival at Entebbe international airport, you will be met and greeted by representatives from the company before transferring to Kampala overnight stay at cassia lodge

This day you will drive to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary about 176 km from Kampala city for Rhino tracking after which transfer to Murchison falls national park overnight at Pakuba safari lodge

Early breakfast, you will go out for a rewarding game drive to see elephants, Giraffes, Kobs, Hippos, etc return for lunch, after which take a boat cruise to the base of the Murchison falls watching crocs incubating eggs and hippos basking by the bank. On return from the boat you will have another game drive before getting back to your lodge late evening dinner and overnight stay at Pakuba lodge

After breakfast transfer to Fort portal, via the escapement, drive through towns of Hoima, Kagadi, and other upcoming trading centers , through big Tea estates for pictures. Check in at Chimpanzee guest house two nights stay and nature walk around the camp.

Day starts with an early breakfast and thereafter transfer to Kanyachu tourist center in Kibale forest park ,the forest has well designed network of trails to access the primates & well known for highest population of Red colobus monkey in Africa and other 13 species of monkeys, chimpanzee tracking and habituation experience is number one tourist attraction. Registration and group allocation follows and after briefing the guides will lead you into the forest for 2-3 hours in search of chimpanzees and other primates. Return for lunch and visit Bigodi Sanctuary where you will meet the guides who will brief you about the conservation of Magombe swamp and later guide you through for a nature walk. The key attractions are birds, different species of monkeys and tree species. Overnight at Chimpanzee guest house.

After breakfast, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and check in Mweya safari lodge, have your lunch and at 3 pm take an afternoon book cruise on Kazinga channel which joins both Lake Edward and Gorge. Kazinga channel is an area with the highest concentration of Hippos in Africa and best platform to take pictures. You also have an evening game drive before returning to your lodge.

Early morning breakfast and leave for Bwindi impenetrable park through the Southern sector of Queen Elizabeth Park the Ishasha sector.

You will have a game drive in this area searching for the tree climbing lions in particular and viewing other wildlife like herds of buffaloes, elephants, topis, Waterbucks, Uganda kobs and beautiful sceneries. Drive out of the park to savannah resort for your lunch before transferring to Bwindi Park. Overnight at Gorilla safari lodge

Gorilla tracking experience begins with a hearty breakfast, with your lunch box and drinking water ,drive to the office /starting point for registration& briefing. Following experienced guides, adventurers are able to visit one of man’s closest relatives, observing them in their natural habitat. Watching these creatures feed, play, care for their young and each other is a moving and life changing experience. The hikes are medium but at times tough & demanding due to elevation, therefore one needs to be physically fit. The trekking duration is between 30 minutes to six hours entirely depending on where the apes may have slept the previous night and how far they may have moved that morning in search for food. . Once you find the family of gorillas, you will have one hour to view them in their natural habitat. Although still wild, the gorillas are habituated to human presence, you will have unforgettable close interaction with these magnificent animals. The trekking may be stressful and demanding but more exciting because looking into the eyes of a Gorilla is unforgettable & a life time experience. Return and drive to lake Bunyonyi for night stay at Arcadia cottages.

This morning you will depart the hotel early morning and drive back to either Kampala or Entebbe as you may wish, stop at the equator monument for pictures, water experiment and lunch before proceeding to Kampala or Entebbe Airport for your home flight.
